Paper Bakelite (Phenolic resin + paper)
Do you know about paper bakelite?
Paper bakelite is a thermosetting resin made by mixing paper with phenolic resin. It has excellent electrical insulation properties and is widely used as an insulating material. Additionally, it has high mechanical strength and heat resistance, making it suitable for various fields such as electrical components, semiconductors, and construction materials. It is particularly noted for its good balance of insulation and processability, and is extensively used as an electrical insulation material. Industrially, it is also referred to as "paper phenolic resin laminate (PF paper laminate)" and is defined under the JIS standard as "JIS C 6481." Among laminates, it is relatively low-cost and suitable for mass production. Its appearance ranges from brown to dark brown, reflecting the color derived from the phenolic resin. A disadvantage of the material is that it has hygroscopic properties, which may lead to dimensional changes due to moisture, so please be cautious when using it.
